9:06 a.m.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a sexual assault and homicide that occurred at 5 a.m. today at 7540 E. Harvard Ave.
Deputies were called to that location at 5:01 a.m. on a report of a woman who had been sexually assaulted at knife-point by her male domestic partner. The woman had fled the apartment and called 911 from a neighbor’s residence.
Deputies arrived on scene at 5:06 a.m. and met with the woman. The apartment where the incident occurred was quiet and it was unclear if the suspect was still in the apartment. Deputies assembled a team and made entry into the apartment at 5:49 a.m.
Inside the apartment, deputies located a 2-year-old male in a bedroom, unharmed. In another bedroom, they found an adult male suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted knife wounds. They also found a 6-year-old male who was deceased. Deputies immediately called for rescue personnel and additional units.
The adult male, the adult female and the 2-year-old child were all transported to the hospital.
At 5:55 a.m., while responding to the call for additional units, a deputy was involved in an accident in the 8300 block of East Iliff Avenue. That accident is being investigated by Colorado State Patrol. The latest update on the deputy is that he is in critical condition. The deputy has been with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office since 1990.
Additional information will be released as it is available.
