A new dog park, picnic shelters and upgraded athletic fields on-tap for this 30-year-old regional park
Dove Valley, Arapahoe County’s largest regional park, will double in size and get new amenities as part of a $18 million makeover that begins March 1, 2023. The 52-acre park, located across from the Broncos practice facility in Centennial, will develop an additional 40 acres and a slew of upgrades for the 30-year-old facility.
Improvements include:
- Upgraded athletic fields
- New roadway access and parking lot
- Walking trails
- Playgrounds
- New dog park
- Shade pavilion with picnic shelters
- Bike skills park
While portions of the park will be closed during construction, impacts to traffic will be minimal and signage will guide visitors to accessible areas. Construction will take place weekdays, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
“Our parks are the heart of our community,” said District 2 Commissioner Jessica Campbell-Swanson. “Upgrading the facilities and amenities in our parks will help more people spend time outdoors, stay active, and build stronger relationships with their neighbors. By investing in our parks, we are investing in the future of our county and a healthy quality of life for our residents.”
Dove Valley Regional Park improvements are directly funded through the Arapahoe County Open Space Sales and Use Tax, which funds open space sites, improvements, programs, and services throughout the County. Fifty percent of the tax collected is given back directly to cities and towns to support open space and recreation programs.
