Work on the Iliff Ave. Corridor Project causing temporary travel impacts

Travel Impacts for the Week of Aug. 7

Arapahoe County Public Works and Concrete Express Inc. continue corridor improvements on Iliff Avenue. Road excavation and removals continue on the north side of Iliff Avenue. 

To complete underground drainage installation, crews have fully closed Trenton Way on the south side of Iliff Avenue and will continue for one month. Motorists are advised to utilize Syracuse Way and Harvard Avenue to access Trenton Way. 

Traffic will be shifted at Wabash and Yosemite streets to the north on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Once shifted, crews will restrict access from Wabash Street to Iliff Avenue and access from Iliff Avenue to Yosemite Street on the north side of Iliff Avenue. Motorists are advised to use Warren Avenue for access. 

Crews have closed northbound access on Cherry Creek Drive from Iliff Avenue to perform underground drainage installation. Motorists are advised to use Trenton Way to the west to access Cherry Creek Drive. 

Work on the High Line Canal Trail continues as bike trail reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation and environmental improvements progress. 

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue. As construction continues, temporary flagging operations requiring cyclists to dismount intermittently. 

Crews have closed the sidewalk between Wabash Street and Yosemite Circle to replace the sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will detour to the south side of Iliff Avenue.

Travel Impacts

  • Full closure of Trenton Way on the south side of Iliff Avenue for approximately one month.
  • Closure of access from Wabash Street to Iliff Avenue on the north side of Iliff Avenue. 
  • Closure of access to Yosemite Street from Iliff Avenue on the north side of Iliff Avenue. 
  • The RTD bus stops on Iliff Avenue at Dayton Street and Yosemite Street have reopened. RTD stop on Iliff Avenue east of Wabash Street is currently closed.
  • Access to businesses and transit stops will be maintained throughout the corridor during construction.

Travel Impacts for the Week of July 31

Arapahoe County Public Works and Concrete Express Inc. continue corridor improvements on Iliff Avenue. Road excavation and removals continue on the north side of Iliff Avenue.

Traffic will be shifted to the north between Parker Road and Yosemite Circle to open work area for future roadway widening. Lane closures will be in effect during the daytime hours on Saturday, July 30. Motorists should expect delays. 

Traffic will be shifted to the north between Rosemary Street and Trenton Way to begin underground drainage installation. Lane closures will be in effect during the nighttime hours on Monday, Aug. 1. Motorists should expect delays. 

To complete underground drainage installation across Trenton Way at Iliff Avenue, crews will fully close Trenton Way on the south side of Iliff Avenue starting Tuesday, Aug. 2. Travel Impacts for the Week of July 24

Arapahoe County Public Works and Concrete Express Inc. continue corridor improvements on Iliff Avenue. Road excavation and removal operations are ongoing on the north side of Iliff Avenue.

On Thursday, July 28, traffic will be shifted to the north on Iliff Avenue between Rosemary Street and Trenton Way. To shift traffic, lane closures will be in effect during the day on July 28. Motorists should expect delays. 

Also on Thursday, July 28, crews will fully close Trenton Way on the south side of Iliff Avenue to complete underground drainage installation across Trenton Way. The closure will remain in place for one month.

The sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue between Wabash Street and Yosemite Circle is closed to remove and replace the sidewalk. Pedestrians are being detoured to the south side of Iliff Avenue.

To remove and replace the sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue crews will close the sidewalk between Yosemite Street and Yosemite Circle. Pedestrian traffic will detour to the south side of Iliff Avenue.

Crews have closed northbound access on Cherry Creek Drive from Iliff Avenue to perform underground drainage installation. Motorists are advised to use Trenton Way to the west to access Cherry Creek Drive. 

Work on the High Line Canal Trail continues as bike trail reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation and environmental improvements progress. To reconstruct the sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue at the High Line Canal Trail, crews have closed the north connection from the High Line Canal Trail to Iliff Avenue for approximately four more weeks. Trail users are advised to use the trail connection on the south side of Iliff Avenue.

A temporary pedestrian crossing will be opened across Iliff Avenue at Valentia Street to allow crossing from the new sidewalk on the south of Iliff Avenue to the north side. 

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue. As construction continues, temporary flagging operations require cyclists to dismount intermittently.

For the next week, crews have closed portions of the High Line Canal and Cherry Creek trails at Iliff Avenue. 

To reconstruct the sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue, crews have closed the north connection from the High Line Canal Trail to Iliff Avenue. Trail users are advised to use the trail connection on the south side of Iliff Avenue. Work on the trail also includes bike trail reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation and environmental improvements.

The Cherry Creek Trail is closed as crews perform bridge work over the Cherry Creek. Trail users will detour along Iliff Avenue to the signalized crosswalk at Trenton Way and back along Iliff Avenue to join Cherry Creek Trail on the other side. Crew have also restricted westbound Iliff Avenue traffic to one lane from Valentia Street to Trenton Way due to the bridge work. Motorists should expect delays. 

Crews have closed northbound access on Cherry Creek Drive from Iliff Avenue to perform underground drainage installation. Motorists are advised to use Trenton Way to the west to access Cherry Creek Drive.

Work on the High Line Canal Trail continues as bike trail reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation and environmental improvements progress. To reconstruct the sidewalk on the north side of Iliff Avenue at the High Line Canal Trail, crews will close the north connection from the High Line Canal Trail to Iliff Avenue starting Tuesday, May 31, for approximately two weeks. Trail users are advised to use the trail connection on the south side of Iliff Avenue.

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue, but a closure will occur next week. To perform bridge work, the Cherry Creek trail will be closed on Tuesday, May 31, for about two weeks. Trail users will detour along Iliff Avenue to the signalized crosswalk at Trenton Way and back along Iliff Avenue to join Cherry Creek Trail on the other side. Bridge work over Cherry Creek will also require crews to restrict westbound Iliff Avenue traffic to one lane from Valentia Street to Trenton Way over Cherry Creek Trail. Motorists should expect delays.

Crews have closed northbound access on Cherry Creek Drive from Iliff Avenue to perform underground drainage installation. Motorists are advised to use Trenton Way to the west to access Cherry Creek Drive.

Motorists can expect delays on westbound Iliff Avenue from Valentia Street to Trenton Way, as traffic is reduced to one lane while crews perform bridge work over Cherry Creek. 

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue but there will be intermittent closures as crews perform bridge work, requiring cyclists to dismount. During closures, trail users will detour along Iliff Avenue to the signalized crosswalk at Trenton Way and back along Iliff Avenue to join Cherry Creek Trail on the other side. 

Road excavation and removals are near completion on the north side of Iliff Avenue at the Emporia Street intersection. Emporia Street will reopen to two-way traffic on Monday, May 23.

Underground drainage installation across Dayton Street is near completion. Crews will reopen Dayton Street to two-way traffic on Monday, May 23.

During construction there will be no closure of the High Line Canal Trail, but flaggers will be in place to assist trail users safely through the construction zone.

Motorists can also expect delays on westbound Iliff Avenue from Valentia Street to Trenton Way, as traffic is reduced to one lane while crews perform bridge work over Cherry Creek. 

To safely install underground drainage across Dayton Street, crews have currently restricted access on Dayton Street at Iliff Avenue to one-way northbound access only. Crews will reopen Dayton Street on Friday, May 20. 

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue but there will be intermittent closures as crews perform bridge work, requiring cyclists to dismount. During closures, trail users will detour along Iliff Avenue to the signalized crosswalk at Trenton Way and back along Iliff Avenue to join Cherry Creek Trail on the other side.

The Cherry Creek Trail is currently open under Iliff Avenue but there will be intermittent closures as crews perform bridge work, requiring cyclists to dismount. During closures, trail users will detour along Iliff Avenue to the signalized crosswalk at Trenton Way and back along Iliff Avenue to join Cherry Creek Trail on the other side. 

Crews continue signal removal for future caisson installation at Trenton Way and Iliff Avenue, requiring intermittent dedicated right lane impacts and sidewalk closures with pedestrian detours.

Arapahoe County Public Works and Development and Concrete Express Inc. continue corridor improvements on Iliff Avenue. As part of this improvement project, truck hauling operations will take place next week during the day as crews continue to clear debris from demolishing two dilapidated buildings at the northwest corner of Parker Road and Iliff Avenue. Daytime truck haul operations will resume on Nov. 29 as part of the demolition.

Crews will continue to perform existing roadway and median removals between Yosemite and Wabash streets and sidewalk removals between Emporia Street and Dayton Way. To safely remove the existing median to open the roadway for future widening, there will be daytime single-lane closures.

Crews will also continue to perform existing roadway, median and sidewalk removals, between Yosemite and Wabash streets. To safely remove the existing median to open the roadway for future widening, crews will conduct daytime single lane closures.

Roadway maintenance operations will begin throughout the corridor and continue intermittently through November. Crews will conduct intermittent short-term lane closures to perform pothole repairs between Quebec Street and Parker Road.

Arapahoe County Public Works and Development, along with contractor partner Concrete Express Inc., this week started initial roadway preparations and earthwork outside the active lanes on Iliff Avenue as part of a $25.64 million Iliff Avenue Corridor Improvement Project between South Parker Road (CO 83) and Quebec Street.

To realign traffic lanes on Parker Road and Iliff Avenue and begin work outside the roadway, crews will conduct an intermittent nighttime single lane closure, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 on southbound Parker Road at Iliff Avenue until 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.

Planned improvements to Iliff Avenue include: four-lane corridor with acceleration and deceleration lanes, intersection safety modifications, bike lane and additional ADA-compliant sidewalk installations, transit stop enhancements, multi-use path/crosswalk improvements, traffic signal optimization with signal detection/ video monitoring and equipment upgrades.

  • Intermittent lane closure on southbound Parker Road at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Iliff Avenue until 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.
