Arapahoe County provides relief funding for small businesses

New state law frees up funding for businesses affected by COVID-19

Applications are now available for direct relief payments to Arapahoe County small businesses that have been affected by the pandemic.

As a result SB20B-001, which the General Assembly passed during last month’s special session, a total of $37 million will be made available across Colorado to eligible small businesses that are in compliance with current state and local public health guidelines and are experiencing severe capacity restrictions and loss of revenue. While the total amount of funding the state will provide to Arapahoe County businesses is still unknown, eligible businesses can apply to receive grant funds until Jan. 31, 2021.

“Small business is at the very heart of a thriving economy and has been hit especially hard during the pandemic,” said Arapahoe County Board Chair Nancy Sharpe. “We encourage eligible small businesses within Arapahoe County to apply, without delay, so this funding can help keep their doors open with the support of funding programs like this.”

Funds will be allocated to restaurants, bars, caterers, movie theaters, gyms and recreation centers that meet specific eligibility requirements. Among the guidelines:

  • The maximum amount of funding a business can receive is $7,000. If application demand is greater than the funding received, the County will prioritize funding for eligible small businesses with receipts of less than $500,000, followed by those with receipts between $500,000 and $1 million.

Small businesses should get ready to apply by reviewing the sample application and all program requirements at
