When 2020 started, the Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners launched a series of quarterly town halls to better engage with our residents. These in-person events, called Conversations with a Commissioner, featured a Board member and a guest or two speaking to residents from their respective districts about the latest County business and what to expect in the coming months.
The COVID crisis and its related lockdowns forced us to suspend these events, but now they’re back in virtual form. Beginning on August 10 with Commissioner Nancy Jackson of District 4, you can tune in to get an update about the latest, and upcoming, County happenings. The event begins at 7 p.m. and also features Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown. Then on Wednesday, August 12 at 7 p.m., Commissioner Bill Holen of District 5 will be joined by Todd Weaver, the County’s Director of Finance. The rest of the lineup is as follows (all events start at 7 p.m.):
Thursday, 8/27 – Commissioner Jeff Baker (District 3) with Shannon Carter, Director of Open Spaces and Intergovernmental Relations
Thursday, 9/3 – Commissioner Nancy Sharpe (District 2) with Cheryl Ternes, Director of Human Services
TBD – Commissioner Kathleen Conti (District 1) with Bryan Weimer, Director of Public Works and Development
You can participate in these events on our Town Hall webpage or our Facebook page, or by calling 855-436-3656. Participants will see a presentation about the many programs and projects the County has continued to execute amid the COVID crisis, and there will be time at the end of each event to ask questions of the commissioners and their guests.
Please join us for some or all of these town halls; they’re a great way for you to find out what’s happening in the County, and to help make your voice heard.
