[ARCHIVED] Voter Service and Polling Centers open Oct. 22 for 2018 General Election

Voter Service and Polling Centers will open Monday, Oct. 22, where citizens may receive assistance for the 2018 General Election. You may visit any Voter Service and Polling Center in your county to drop off a voted mail ballot, register to vote, update registration, request a new or replacement ballot, or vote on an accessible electronic tablet.

In Arapahoe County, 12 Voter Service and Polling Centers will open Oct. 22, and an additional 16 locations will open Saturday, Nov. 3 through Election Day. Voting locations in Arapahoe County will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 and Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. Find your nearest location at www.ArapahoeVotes.com.

Clerk and Recorder Matt Crane has implemented many positive improvements to increase convenience and access to voting locations in 2018. Among the improvements, Arapahoe County is the first county in Colorado to open Voter Service and Polling Centers from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on the Monday before Election Day. Known as ‘Election Day Squared,’ this new concept was in response to voter behavior in Nov. 2016, when 78 percent of in-person voters came on the last two days of voting. Crane encourages citizens to vote early and avoid any potential lines on Election Day.

Arapahoe County is also offering 28 voting locations on Election Day, even though State law requires only 25 in proportion to the voting population. The additional locations will ensure greater convenience and access to citizens, especially in underserved areas of Aurora, which comprises nearly half of the County’s population. New voting locations in Aurora include Dayton Street Opportunity Center, Ecotech Institute, Heather Gardens Clubhouse, Pickens Technical College and Rangeview High School.

As always, all voting locations in Arapahoe County will be ADA-accessible for citizens with a disability. Voters may request a wheelchair-accessible voting booth, an audio ballot and headphones, large font size on the tablets, a stylus pointer to assist with reaching the tablet, or inputs to connect to the voter’s sip & puff, paddles or four-direction joystick. Election Judges are available to assist voters upon request.
