Arapahoe County invites public comment on how it should prioritize federal funding for housing and community development projects in 2014 and over the next five years. The funding may be used to improve affordable housing, improve or create public facilities or infrastructure, and support public agencies that serve low to moderate-income residents.
The Division of Housing and Community Development will host two public meetings to present its draft 2014 Action Plan and 2014-2018 Five-Year Consolidated Plan. The first meeting will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the Arapahoe County Administration Building, 5334 S. Prince St., Littleton in the West Hearing Room. The second meeting will be 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the City of Centennial Civic Center, 13133 E. Arapahoe Rd., Centennial.
The 2014 Action Plan describes how the County will allocate federal Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Act funds to local agencies who submitted applications last year. These funds are distributed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and can be allocated to local projects and agencies serving Centennial, Deer Trail, Englewood, Glendale, Greenwood Village, Littleton, Sheridan and unincorporated Arapahoe County. The City of Aurora receives separate funding.
The 2014-2018 Five-Year Consolidated Plan describes overall housing and community development needs and priorities in these same areas. This plan sets goals and direction for future housing projects.
Arapahoe County welcomes citizen input on both draft plans, especially from low- and moderate-income residents in the areas where housing and community development funds may be used.
For those unable to attend a public meeting, written comments may be submitted by Feb. 16 to Arapahoe County Housing and Community Development, 1690 W. Littleton Blvd., Suite 300, Littleton, CO, 80120 or by email to jfink@arapahoegov.com. Public comments will be added to the final plans.
