A death certificate is issued after the examination is completed. Occasionally, more extensive testing is required, in which case a pending death certificate may be issued. A final death certificate will be issued following completion of all tests and investigation. This may take eight to 10 weeks.

Issuing of a Death Certificate

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office does not initiate the death certificate, this is done with the mortuary, crematory, etc. We do not keep certified copies of death certificates. If you are not the informant working with the funeral home, you must go through Arapahoe County Public Health (effective, Jan. 1, 2023) to obtain a death certificate.
