An autopsy is part of a forensic investigation. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office does not do limited autopsies but full forensic autopsies. Per state statute, it is the decision of the Coroner’s Office as to whether or not an autopsy will be conducted. The office understands that some families might object to an autopsy. These cases will be handled on a case by case basis.
