Advisory
We have recently received reports of EBT fraud and are reaching out to our cardholders with a friendly reminder regarding the safety and security of your EBT card and PIN. As you are aware, the PIN is what keeps your card safe and secure. Although there are safeguards in place, cards can be skimmed or cloned, and anyone with access to your card can use it if they have your information. Please keep in mind that lost or stolen benefits cannot be replaced. And you can help protect your card with a few of easy steps:
- Change your PIN, a best practice is to change your PIN before getting your benefits each month. Call 1-888-328-2656 or 1-800-659-2656 (TTY).
- Create a strong PIN that only you know
- Avoid using easily identifiable PINs such as 1234 or 1111
You can also protect your benefits by freezing your EBT card to prevent new purchases, PIN changes, and ATM transactions. You can freeze and unfreeze your card at any time by:
- Logging into your ebtEDGE Mobile App on your smartphone
- Logging into the Cardholder Portal (ebtedge.com)
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact EBT customer service at 1-888-328-2656 or 1-800-659-2656 (TTY). You may also visit Colorado State EBT.
