Motor Vehicle Registration Renewals
Renewing your registration is easy and convenient with 5 contact-free options to work around your schedule.
Please note: We do not offer in-person renewal services at any of our offices. Renewals must be completed via phone, online, at a kiosk, by mail or with a document drop box.

Online
- Visit the State's the Renew a Vehicle Registration page.
- Have your license plate number and the last eight (8) digits of your VIN ready.
- If your vehicle just passed an emissions test, you may renew online within 24-48 hours of your successful test.
- Note: This service is unavailable if your renewal postcard states you must provide proof of insurance.
Self-Serve Kiosk
- Go to comvexpress.com to find a location near you, see FAQs and more.
- Have your license plate number and the last eight (8) digits of your VIN ready.
- Bring your renewal postcard, or your license plate number and the last eight (8) digits of your VIN.
- Proof of Insurance: This service is unavailable if your renewal postcard states you must provide proof of insurance. Please wait 2-4 days after updating your insurance with your provider to allow time for your insurance to provide updated information to the statewide registration system.
- Proof of Emissions: Kiosks cannot accept paper proof of emissions. If your vehicle just passed an emissions test, please wait two (2) business days for the statewide system to update.
- Fees: Kiosks within a DMV office charge a $3.00 service fee; other locations (i.e. grocery stores) charge $3.95. Additionally, there is a 2.3-2.4% fee to use a credit/debit card and a $.50 fee to use a check.

- Proof of Insurance: If your renewal postcard states you need to provide proof of insurance, please call to discuss your options.
- Proof of Emissions: You may renew by phone within 24-48 hours of passing emissions.
Drop Box
- Find a location at one of our offices. Boxes are open 24/7.
- Address an envelope to “Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder: Motor Vehicle.”
- Include:
- Name, phone number and email address (if applicable).
- Proof of Insurance.
- The last eight (8) digits of your VIN.
- License plate number.
- Renewal postcard (optional).
- A check or money order only (no cash!) made out to: “Arapahoe County Motor Vehicle”.
- Proof of Emissions: If indicated on your renewal postcard, provide proof of emissions.

- Remember to seal the envelope and include postage.
- Renewal documents and decals will be mailed to you. Please allow 14-15 business days to complete the transaction.
