Fraud Detection

You may have seen advertisements for title lock services or even stories in the news on “title theft.” To protect Arapahoe County residents, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office Recording Division offers FraudSleuth, a free service that will alert you if a new document is recorded under your name.

To sign up:

  • Go to www.arapahoegov.com/documentsearch
  • Click on “Create New User Account” and create an account
  • When you have saved your account information, it will return to the login page to enter your username and password
  • Log in and click on “Modify My User Preferences
  • In the “FraudSleuth Preferences” section, select “Create a Profile

(It is recommended you create a profile for all variations of your name, as well as any other names associated with the property.)

  • If a document matching the entered name is recorded, you will be notified by email. (Please note, if you have a common name, e.g. “Mary Johnson,” you may receive emails for documents intended for other individuals with the same name.)

You can use the FraudSleuth website to view the document in question. You can also run a search on your name to see what has already been recorded under your name prior to setting up a profile. Please call 303.795.4520 or email recording@arapahoegov.com for further assistance.
