Arapahoe County Open Spaces has contributed $3.5 M toward this project during numerous phases of planning and development. Late in 2016, we celebrated the grand opening with partners including Sheridan and Englewood as well as South Suburban Park and Recreation District, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the Colorado Water Conservation Board. This scenic 8-acre riverfront regional destination includes whitewater features in the South Platte River, a natural playground, restrooms, picnic pavilions and connections to miles of trail along the beloved Mary Carter Greenway. River Run is located adjacent to Broken Tee Golf Coarse just NW of Santa Fe and Oxford Avenue. Get your personal flotation device and boogie board or pack a picnic lunch and come out to play at River Run this summer.
A beautiful respite nestled into a quiet neighborhood, Duncan Park was completed in 2015 with $250,000 in funding support from Open Spaces. Features of the park include adventurous play equipment for all ages, walkways, pavilion, sport court, restrooms, athletic field and a horseshoe pit for a family gathering. Located in the City of Englewood at 4800 S. Pennsylvania Street, Duncan Park is near Belleview and Broadway in an area that was in great need of a community park. Bring the family for a picnic and lots of play and exploration this summer.
Through your support of the Open Space Sales and Use Tax, the program was able to provide $250,000 for this multi-use synthetic turf field project in 2015. The turf field provides the Englewood community with year-round space for recreation programs, sports practices, games and open space play. The field is adjacent to the high school and located at 3800 S. Logan Street near US 285. More info here.
