Chore Services and Homemakers

Arapahoe County’s Homemaker and Chore Services Programs help seniors to remain independent and self-sufficient in their own homes by providing free light housekeeping and assistance with heavier household chores.

Homemakers Services


Homemakers services can include general routine light cleaning on a biweekly basis for 1.5 hours. Such services include:
  • Changing bed linens
  • Cleaning ovens
  • Doing laundry
  • Dusting furniture
  • General cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms
  • Mopping floors
  • Washing inside windows
  • Wiping down counters and refrigerators
  • Vacuuming
Homemaker Services are funded by Community Services Block Grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. You must meet income guidelines to be eligible.

Chore Services


Chore Services can include fall or spring yard work, washing outdoor first-floor windows, major household cleaning or organizing projects, and other services. Chore Services are funded by Older Americans Act funds. You must be age 60 or older to be eligible.
