The Arapahoe County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award (ACMCYA) recognizes high school seniors [12th grade] who live in and attend school in Arapahoe County who have overcome personal adversity and created positive change in their lives.
Mission of the ACMCYA
To identify and recognize teenagers who have overcome obstacles and risen to challenges life has presented. This award is unique because it encompasses youth in traditional classroom settings, group homes, alternative schools, and emancipated youth.
This program provides business, community and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their support for the young people in our communities. If you would like to know more about supporting the youth, please call 303-795-4630 or email Jolene Nagle.
Scholarships and Youth Recognition
The application has been revised for 2019. Please be sure to review the instructions and familiarize yourself with the new format. The ACMCYA will recognize seniors in high school with scholarship checks sent to their respective college to defray first year college costs.
Youth recognition certificates will be given to middle school nominees to honor their efforts overcoming personal challenges and encourage positive change.
Each nominee should write an essay of a few paragraphs that include what they hope to accomplish this year and any future plans or ambitions they might have. Nominees should include a reference.
Applications need to be filled out online and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. This year’s award’s ceremony will be held April 24, 2019, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Mayo Aviation Building and Hangar, 7735 S. Peoria St., Englewood.
